In October 2023 we organized an excursion to the Hanšpíle peatland for representatives of the Norwegian donors of the project, as well as students and teachers from Norway and from the primary school in Plavecký Štvrtok.
In the project Ecohydrological restoration of peatlands in the Carpathian Mountains, we are revitalising twelve peatlands. Most of them are in the north of Slovakia, the only site in the Záhorie region is Hanšpíle. You still can find a preserved fen and alder fen forests there. The orchid Liparis loeselii, which is found in only three places in Slovakia, also grows there as it grows only in fens.
Pupils from the primary school in Plavecký Štvrtok tried out various hydrological measurements. We also invited journalists. Representatives of daily newspapers, television and radio took part.
